A unique piece of spirituality and tradition, this authentic Nepalese shamanic mask is made of yak skin.

This extraordinary object, dating back to the 20th century, represents the craftsmanship and symbolism deeply rooted in the shamanic culture of the Himalayan regions.

They are traditionally made by first working the wood into the desired shape, then rubbing it with yak butter, finally placing the yak skin on top and smoking it over a fire, imprinting the desired shape into the skin.

In Nepal, the shaman plays an important role in society. He wears this mask while channeling the spirits, allowing him to attract the drinkable ones and drive away the malevolent ones.

These "good" spirits help cure illnesses and guide villagers through important life changes, such as birth, change of social status and death.

Perfect for enriching a collection of ethnographic art and a Wunderkammer, ideal as a decorative element for interiors, adding a touch of mystery and exotic charm.

The mask has small imperfections and fluff due to the handmade nature of the item.
